Enchanting India…a treasury of art, architecture; philosophy, classical dances and music; the mesmerising Taj, the eternal Ganges, the Thar desert, the mighty Himalayas, tropical rainforests, the Cape where the waters of three seas mingle…the rich fauna-snakes, peacocks, Royal Bengal Tiger, lions…India is all of these and more…To flaunt our heritage and culture, Sri Vidhyans are always ready to go miles before they sleep….
SRI VIDHYA ACADEMY INTERNATIONAL RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL, CHENNAI – 72 has been organizing project exhibitions every year like PASUMAI 2007 and BHOOMI 2009.
The same way this year also our school had organized a project exhibition on HERITAGE EXPO – 2011 which was held on 24th Jan 2011 to 25th Jan 2011.
The expo had presented the models of our Indian culture, Tradition, Festivals, Artifacts, Monuments and Costumes of East, West, South and North zones of our country. The expo had also provided an opportunity for everybody to know more about “VALUES” of the Indian culture and practices.
The student showed their varied talents in art and sculpture by building different miniature models of India’s Heritage monuments. The seventh wonder of the world; The Taj Mahal, Red Fort, Khajuraho temple, Konark and Hampi, the caves of Ajanta Ellora, Dakhineswar Temple of the East, Buland Darwaza of the West, Qutub Minar, Lotus temple, the mighty Himalayas, the Thanjavur temple and many more attracted the attention of the visitors.
All the zones had students dressed up in colourful ethnic wears depicting the variety of costumes in India. The visitors from different schools also enjoyed the variety of palatable food items which were displayed from each zone. They also set up an audio-visual lab showing slide shows about our rich culture.
Dr. P. MANNAR JAWAHAR Vice Chancellor Anna University, Chennai was the Chief Guest of the exhibition ( 25th Jan 2011 Tuesday) The students gave the guard of honour to the Vice Chancellor. He had graced the exhibition and interacted with the students.
The organizer of expo had invited students and teachers from different schools.
Dr. Nanjil R. Kennedy the Chairman of the school and Principal . V. M. Makhalakshmi welcomed the chief guest and the gathering.
